Recreated from memory and archival research, this piece is an homage to a lost family artifact: a postcard capturing my grandfather's small-town airport. He is seen standing in front of his Stearman biplane, from which he ran a crop-dusting, courier, and short-trip flight service.
The original photograph represented a unique multigenerational intersection, with my maternal grandfather behind the camera lens and my paternal grandfather on the other side as the pilot. Though the original physical postcard has been lost to time, this painting permanently restores that shared family moment to canvas.
